My name is Brandon Hofer and I am currently the editor-in-chief for Gaming Target. We cover news, reviews, previews, and more. I also manage both our Twitter and Facebook pages and have increased our social media presence on Facebook by almost 300% since joining the Gaming Target team. I have been with Gaming Target since 2012 and have established relationships with some of the biggest companies in the industry such as Microsoft, Sony, Activision, Ubisoft, EA, and more. Gaming Target has become a respected site that is granted access to E3 every year in addition to being invited to various media functions such as Microsoft’s Spring/Fall showcase, review events for popular franchises, traveling to different studios to see titles as they are being developed and more. Some of the studios I have been invited to include Toys For Bob (Creators of the Skylanders series), THQ (Corporate HQ), THQ Montreal, Microsoft, EA’s Redwood City campus, Ubisoft, and more. We also receive early review code so that we can have our reviews up on the site either on launch day or before (depending on whether there is an NDA) and we have also worked together with companies to stream their titles on our Twitch and Youtube channels to show it off to our readers before the game(s) is available in stores.
My career covering the gaming industry started in September 2006 when I joined Totally360.com. It was a start-up site where I could get in on the ground floor and I helped build up that site to the point where we were also being invited to events, sent review codes early, and more. Eventually, that site became the Totally Gaming Network (Update: The owner of Totally Gaming Network shut the site down in 2021). I was there until April 2013 when I became the editor-in-chief at Gaming Target and began writing exclusively for that outlet.
E3 2019 was my 14th E3 convention having been to every one since 2005 (with the exception of having to miss E3 2006). I attend all of the press conferences and try to set up as many appointments as possible during the show to cover as many products as I can during that week.
I have been a gamer for approximately 30 years with my first console being the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since then I have owned pretty much every piece of Nintendo hardware, including the Nintendo Switch. I also have an Xbox Series X, PS5, New Nintendo 3DS XL, PS Vita, and a Steam Deck so that I can cover a game no matter what platform it might be on. Some of my favorite franchises include The Last of Us, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, and Call of Duty.
I have created this online portfolio so that all of my work can be in one place and easily accessible to those who want to see it whether it be potential employers, colleagues and/or friends. I’m also looking for new challenges whether that be a community management position, a position in public relations or even staying within the gaming media and working for someone like an IGN. My knowledge of the industry and my time covering it (as well as growing up with games) will make me a valuable asset to whichever company takes a chance on me and brings me on staff.
